Today's report: Monday Feb 5th
(preliminary results)...
Site: Casabito
Conditions: Some rain fell during the night and the day started with a completly overcast sky. The prevision indicated improving conditions and the sky was blue before noon. A very low inversion predominated all day long in the area.
Outstanding flights: Despite the low inversion at only 1000m, most of the pilots started slowly moving north as soon as they left the takeoff area, assisted by the consistent breeze coming up the Bonao valley. Slightly different paths had many pilots ending with a similar outcome. Ozone's test pilot Jerome Canaud managed a few more kilometers than the rest of the pack by flying south first on his serial Mantra M2, but not being in the competition, the day was won by Spain's Daniel Crespo on his Advance Omega 7, scratching low most of the time, with local pilot Georges Thevenet coming in second on his Gin Boomerang Sport.
Day winner: Daniel Crespo (Advance Omega 7).
Category 1 day winner: Thierry Moreau (Advance Alpha 3).
Category 2 day winner: Sebastian Benz (Nova Mamboo).
Category 3 day winner: Stefano Montanelli (Ozone Addict R).
Category 4 day winner: (Daniel Crespo (Advance Omega 7).
